PCI DSS

All Merchants are required to comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS). The payment card industry has designated merchant levels defined by processing volume and ecommerce activity. Currently, Merchants defined as levels 1, 2, and 3 are required to validate compliance with the PCI DSS. Prohibited Data:

Track data (the information encoded on the magnetic stripe on the back of the card), CVV2, and PIN Block data can never be stored subsequent to transaction authorization.

Other cardholder information, if stored, must be sufficiently protected at all times. If you don't need it, don't store it!

Payment Applications:

Visa has developed a set of "Best Practices" for payment application software vendors to help ensure merchant compliance with the PCI Data Security Standard. Visa maintains a list of validated applications at www.visa.com/cisp, click on "Payment Applications."

PCI Validation

Although PCI validation for smaller level 4 merchants is not yet a Card Association mandate, PCI compliance is required for all merchants.

AmbironTrustWave (ATW) or simply Trustwave, can help facilitate PCI validation for you. Please go to the TrustKeeper® compliance portal and use our individual enrollment code. The code is: APCIEVO4

In TrustKeeper, you will complete a brief series of questions to gauge your level of risk. Based on your system and risk level, a PCI validation fee is then displayed. Most merchants will pay $250 for the PCI questionnaire and site scan. Then, you will have access to the PCI Self-assessment Questionnaire and network vulnerability scanning (if applicable) - the two key elements in validating compliance with the PCI DSS. The ATW Help Desk listed on the web portal is available to assist you in this process. You will receive a full compliance report based on the results of the questionnaire and the scan, including remediation solutions, if any, for vulnerable areas of their payment processing systems.

Please be aware that the $250 is for the basic service which satisfies most merchant requirements. If you require additional services, there will be additional fees.
